ABOUT

Birland Cottage

Birland Cottage is a very special place to stay on the Bere Peninsula, Devon.

Built in the mid-1800s, this traditional slate-hung ‘one-up-one-down’ former silver miner’s cottage has been refurbished to combine character with quality comfort.

It's an ideal quiet getaway for two which also offers plenty to see and do.

Located within the Tamar Valley National Landscape area of outstanding natural beauty and Cornwall & West Devon Mining Landscape World Heritage Site next to Dartmoor National Park, nature and history are everywhere.  And with market town Tavistock and cultural centre Plymouth nearby, a wide range of activities & amenities are on your doorstep.

Enjoy views across the valley to Cornwall and shared use of our peaceful quarter acre garden when you stay, catering for yourself or booking optional meals.

Birland Cottage is a self-contained annexe to Vine House, where we live, with its own private entrance.

Downstairs, the kitchen area comes with

induction hob, microwave, fridge, sink, kettle (plus complimentary tea, coffee, milk), toaster and all your cooking, crockery & cutlery essentials.
There’s also a bookshelf with local guidebooks & maps, a sofa, dining table and chairs – with eating outside on one of the two patios or in the Garden Room an option in the Summer.
Upstairs, you’ll find a comfy double bed, chest of drawers, TV, books to read, smart en suite shower room and great views across the valley to Cornwall.

Fast, free full fibre Wifi is available throughout.
